This is Gilberto Clemente da Silva. He was born on August 26th, 1966 in São Paulo. His family lived in Alagoas and came to São Paulo city in 1965. His family founded Paraisópolis, with the 1st wood shack, made by his father.
They come here hoping to change their lives, like many other families that come from other states in northeastern states.
His father, Mr. Lourival, got a job as a bricklayer. Gilberto always worked in small corner shops, and today he has a well known supermarket in Paraisópolis – Mercado do Louro.
He’s married and has two kids. He has a house here and another one outside Paraisópolis. Because of his work, he stays 16 hours a day here.
